HOW IT WORKS

How It Works: Your Path to Understanding and Healing

As a licensed therapist and attachment coach, my approach is centered around truly understanding your unique experiences—how you feel, what you believe, and what life is like from your perspective. I believe in creating a safe, supportive space where we can explore the deeper aspects of your world. Whether you're just beginning to recognise the underlying causes of your struggles or you're already aware of patterns from the past, I’m here to help you understand and address them in a way that feels right for you.

In our work together, we’ll look at how early attachment experiences, emotional behaviors, and coping mechanisms influence the way you navigate relationships, work, and life in general. With empathy, deep listening, and a focus on your unique needs, I’ll help you uncover the root causes of any issues and provide you with tools to heal and grow. Insecure attachment plays a significant role in our emotional and relational lives. When early experiences with caregivers are inconsistent, neglectful, or unresponsive, this can lead to insecure attachment patterns. These attachment styles—such as anxious, avoidant, or disorganized attachment—often influence the way we connect with others and how we manage stress, intimacy, and vulnerability as adults. If you’ve experienced insecure attachment, you may notice that you struggle with trust, fear of abandonment, or difficulty expressing your emotions in relationships. These patterns can show up in many areas of life, from personal relationships to work environments, often leading to confusion, frustration, and emotional distress. The good news is that through therapy, these attachment patterns can be understood, healed, and transformed. By developing a secure relationship to yourself and others, you’ll learn to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships grounded in trust, safety, and emotional balance. Together, we’ll work towards creating a secure attachment style, helping you develop the tools to: - Cultivate self-compassion and emotional resilience - Trust yourself and others more fully - Communicate your needs and boundaries with clarity - Build relationships based on mutual respect understanding - Heal from past attachment wounds, fostering healthier connections moving forward and allowing you to be your authentic self.

Can I Help You?

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward, but together, we will work to identify the key issues and build a pathway for change. Whether it’s processing past wounds, managing emotions more effectively, or transforming the way you approach relationships, my goal is to help you create a life that aligns with your true self. My work differs from some therapy in that I will help you to uncover the root of your issues at the subconscious level and provide you with tools to reprogram painful beliefs rather than just giving you strategies to cope with the symptoms. My work is about lasting change that helps you reconnect with who you are underneath your conditioning and coping mechanisms so you can live in line with your values, morals and true sense of self as opposed to your fears and limiting beliefs.

Here’s how I can help: -

The Therapy Process: What to Expect

We’ll meet in person or online, depending on what works best for you. Each session is typically 1 hour, held on a regular day and time each week to provide consistency and structure for your growth. During our sessions, I’ll ask questions to help me better understand you and your unique situation. I’ll also be listening attentively so that we can uncover the patterns that are influencing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. If we’re a good fit, our sessions will feel like a collaborative process—one where you’ll leave each time with more clarity and insight. As you grow in self-awareness, you’ll be able to focus on your goals, develop new skills, and experience positive changes in your life. Together, we’ll uncover how past patterns are impacting your present and work towards lasting transformation.

How Long Does It Take?

The timeline for therapy is unique to each individual and depends on your goals and the issues you’re working through. Some clients may start to feel significant shifts within a few sessions, while others may need more time to explore deeper-rooted patterns.

Typically, it helpful to commit to a minimum of 6-8 sessions to begin seeing meaningful progress. Over time, we’ll reassess and adjust the focus of our work as needed, so you always feel supported in the best way possible.

I offer counseling sessions face-to-face in a beautiful space on Barnfield Crescent, central Exeter, or I can meet you for a session online via Google Meet.
